Chilli X’s Crazy Birthday Bonanza starts now!

Chilli X have been developing iPhone apps for a whole year now and to celebrate our 1st birthday we’re going to do something a little bit different. Instead of receiving gifts we’re going to be giving them!

This coming weekend (that’s October 10th & 11th 2009) we’re going to give all our apps away for free. That’s right – all 16 apps will be free – that’s enough to fill a whole screen on your iPhone. We know it’s crazy but we wanted to say thank you to everybody that’s supported us over the last year and simultaneously boost awareness of our apps.
We really want to give away as many as possible so we’d be grateful if you could find the space to give us a mention – we’re sure your readers would appreciate the heads up.

We know it’s crazy but we wanted to say thank you to everybody that’s supported us over the last year and simultaneously boost awareness of our apps.

Here’s the deal: you get the apps for free and all we ask in return is that if you like them please leave us a good review. If you have any problems at all, please contact us and we’ll try our best to help.

We really want to give away as many as possible so please tell as many people as you can about this great opportunity to fill your phone.

PS. At the moment we’re having a slight problem with Playlist Alarm Clock. No matter what we do we can’t make it free. All the other apps seem to have accepted the price change but P.A.C isn’t even offering us the opportunity to change it. We’ve logged a support email with Apple and we’ll keep trying and keep you updated. In the meantime, apologies and if we can’t make it free this weekend we’ll try for next weekend…

Thanks for the chance to try out all your apps for free! Why isn’t Playlist Alarm Clock included in the special?

    • chillix Says:

      Hi Mike

for some reason we can’t make P.A.C free! The idea was that everything was going to be free but when we went in to the back end of the App Store to change the prices, P.A.C did not have a free option. We’ve contacted Apple Tech Support about it but with no luck so far (no surprise really as they normally take days to get back to you if at all). All we can say ids that we’ll keep trying to make it free over the course of the weekend and if we can’t we’ll do it again at sme point in the future.

Hi, great idea, I discovered your apps, well done !.

On MyCal, I miss a setup where I can select the start of week. In Europe, we usually use Monday.

    • chillix Says:

      Hi Charles

being European ourselves, we’re painfully aware of all the time & date display differences there are between us and them πŸ™‚ Unfortunately the vast majority of our sales are in the US…

We’ll try and put it in the next version though.

    Happy Birthday!
Love your apps and now I get to try the ones I was “on the fence” for. πŸ˜€
Shared the news on twitter about your B-day special.

Unfortunately, I linked to the store from TUAW and clicked on P.A.C without realizing it was not going to be free – thus I paid for it under false pretenses. I would not have bought it had I understood what was happening – I figured it was just listed as .99 but that there would be no charge in the end.

I’m a little miffed. Any way to get it back?

    • chillix Says:

      Hi Kim

I’m really sorry about that. It was our firm intention that all our apps be free for the weekend, but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men…

Despite our best efforts we could not make P.A.C free – the drop down menu from which we choose the price just doesn’t contain a free option in the case of P.A.C. We’ve contacted Apple Tech support (so far to no avail) and because of the time it takes for price and text changes to filter through to the App Store there was a brief time when the text described P.A.C as being free (the amended text has now appeared).

I’m afraid Apple don’t provide a way for developers to give refunds. In essence they are the shop you bought the item from and we are the manufacturers – we don’t have any of your personal details so no method of refunding you. If you contact Apple directly they might be able to give you a refund.

Normally we would offer you a promo code for any other of our applications but since they are all free this weekend that seems like a pointless gesture.

      Sincere apologies.

2 hours late for work this morning because I the alarm on your app doesn’t clearly indicate when it is active. Only when it isn’t, and even then not clearly. Thanx

    • chillix Says:

      Hi Neil

sorry about that – not sure which app you’re talking about though. If it’s NightTime Plus then them Alarm icon is lit up when the alarm is active and dimmed when the alarm is not which is a pretty standard way of doing it…

If it’s Playlist Alarm Clock then there’s a huge chuck of the screen that says ‘Wake Off’ – we called the two settings Sleep & Wake rather than use the term alarm because it seemed more appropriate to the function of the app.

Let us know what app you’re using and we’ll see if we can help some more…

      • Daniel Says:

Well I use both your clock apps and the only time I’m late
is when I abuse the “snooze” button. lol!
I’m one of those people that needs darkness to sleep, so NightTime Plus is perfect for me. When the family needs to be up together, it’s time for Playlist Alarm (I keep speakers plugged in for that).
Your Desk Calendar is for work, Star Time is just my fun clock on my day off or sometimes Photo Frame. πŸ˜€
        Great Apps!

  7. Buzz Says:

Great stuff! I was happy to buy a copy of Playlist Alarm Clock. But app store wouldn’t take my PayPal money..

Thanks for doing this, I am sure everyone appreciates it.
